Will You Help Me Carry On My Legacy of Healing Touch?

November 1, 2009

Dear Friends,

In this month of my 80th birthday, I have a very important message I hope will reach those who can help me insure that my legacy of healing touch will continue into the future.

My goal is to raise $3 million in capital funds so my Massage Ministry will continue to serve those in need of compassionate touch.

As a nonprofit, we need to rely on continual support from those who believe in, or have benefited from, my Ministry.

I have spent nearly three decades devoted to massage, and my name is associated with human touch as a holy and healing gift from God.

The year 2009 marks the 26-year anniversary of the founding of my Massage Ministry, which I started with my first massage clinic on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota, a clinic that was shut down in 1983 by the Vice Squad for not having a proper license as a "massage parlor."

Today massage is very popular and very widespread in the United States, however, this was not the case when I first started to practice and then teach massage nearly three decades ago.

In fact, it has been a long and challenging road to make massage an accepted healing practice, and most people today do not know about the history of massage in this country and how it used to be associated primarily with seedy massage parlors and the practice of prostitution.

When I first started to practice massage, I experienced much disapproval, shame and humiliation because members of my order could not accept my calling to practice such an "unrespectable" profession.

Nevertheless, I continued to follow God's calling for my life, which was the practice and teaching of massage.

I was also involved in helping to change ordinances in many cities to allow massage therapists to practice as healthcare professionals.

I have trained thousands of individuals in massage through my classes and my massage schools, and my Massage Ministry has literally touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who have received massages from those who have studied massage with Sister Rosalind's.

Sister Rosalind schools are committed to very high standards of training and being a graduate of our schools is considered a mark of excellence.

Our clinics have evolved to become comprehensive "wellness" centers and have expanded to include seven locations in two states.

I am reaching out to you to ask for your support at this time to continue the Sister Rosalind Massage Ministry.

Our ministry, which is based upon Christian principles and values, serves the whole community through the healing of the body, mind and spirit through loving touch.

Please contact us to discuss how we can work together to continue my legacy.

God bless you,

Sister Rosalind Gefre
